Values
In his 2016 State of the University Address, Chancellor Sam Hawgood announced that UCSF is embracing a common set of values to set a clear direction for all members of the UCSF community as we work together to fulfill our mission. This set of overarching values aligns with UCSF’s Principles of Community and Code of Ethics.
Innovative Strategies for Health
By bringing together a variety of perspectives and backgrounds through UCSF’s cross-disciplinary research and industry partnerships, our teams are constantly renewing and advancing the fields of medicine, pharmacy, dentistry and nursing.
Collaborative research is at the core of the CPR-CC. Our faculty, trainees, and staff from across UCSF work together to advance discoveries that improve outcomes for critically ill patients. Through pilot grants, shared data resources, and our Research Concierge services, we support early-career investigators and accelerate innovation from discovery to bedside.
Research Concierge Services
Conducting high-quality critical care research requires coordination, expertise, and access to the right tools and data. The CPR-CC Research Concierge was created to make that process easier.
Our Research Concierge connects investigators, especially early-career physician-scientists, with the expertise and infrastructure they need to launch and grow their studies. Whether you’re designing a clinical trial, developing a database, or analyzing ICU outcomes, our team can help you find the right collaborators and resources.
- Data Access & Management – Guidance on working with UCSF data resources, including the CLIF dataset and other ICU data repositories.
- Biospecimen Banking Support – Assistance with linking clinical data to biological samples and navigating biobanking resources.
- Regulatory & IRB Navigation – Help identifying appropriate regulatory pathways and preparing submissions.
- Computational Biology Expertise – Consultation on data analysis, machine learning approaches, and integration of multi-omic datasets.
- Mentorship & Collaboration Connections – Linking investigators with experienced CPR-CC faculty mentors and collaborators across departments.
Who Can Access These Services
All UCSF CPR-CC-affiliated faculty, fellows, and trainees are eligible to receive up to 4 hours of complimentary consultation through the Research Concierge. This initial support can be used for project scoping, connecting with relevant experts, or early-stage planning.
For projects requiring additional or ongoing assistance, extended support is available on an hourly basis. Our goal is to provide flexible, scalable help that meets the needs of both new and experienced investigators.
Pilot Grants
The CPR-CC Pilot Grants Program provides early-career investigators with funding to drive innovative studies in critical care. By supporting new ideas at their earliest stage, CPR-CC is investing in the next generation of physician-scientists who will transform ICU care.
CLIF Dataset
The UCSF CLIF Dataset is a powerful, standardized resource built from longitudinal ICU data and linked to a national network of 46 hospitals, driving multi-center research and innovation in critical care.
